Generosity is at the heart of the Christian life. Scripture reminds us that “every good and perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17), and when we give back to God’s work, we join Him in blessing others. For those who are 70½ or older, there is a unique way to do that with both spiritual and practical impact: through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
A Qualified Charitable Distribution is a direct transfer of funds from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charity, such as your local Global Methodist Church.
Instead of withdrawing funds from your IRA (and paying taxes on the income), you can instruct your financial institution to send the gift straight to your church. This not only benefits the ministries of your congregation but can also reduce your taxable income.
For those 73 and older, you can you use the QCD to fulfill the Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) requirement.
When we give in this way, we echo the words of Jesus: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). A QCD is not just a financial tool—it is an act of worship. It is a way of saying, “Lord, all I have is Yours, and I want to see it used for Your glory.”
As you prayerfully consider your stewardship, ask God how He might use your resources to strengthen your local church and extend the mission of the Gospel through the VA Global Methodist Church.
If you are interested in using a QCD to support your church, please consult with your financial advisor or IRA custodian to begin.
Together, through both prayer and provision, we can build a lasting legacy of faithfulness and generosity for the Kingdom.
